Some ideas seem to be on the air...

Some days ago, I was thinking about buy these b's a an hifi equipement : with a ASUS ESSENCE ONE dac (2rca + 2 xlr, toslink, spdif and usb class2), and a nettop + a set top box for sources. Just as a temporary hifi system, because as i do not have lot of money to spend in a complete hifi system today. It would just be a transistional system :)

But I have no found a lot of review about these on the web. And zero photo inside...

In my opinion, today, thehifi traditionnal system with amplifier, tape loops, analog only input... is completly outdated and not matching to the new digital sources.

Systems like active monotors (adm9t, ...) + dac is much more exciting. And active filtering is definitly the future.

So I will propably buy these, thank you for your report. Can you post a picture of the rear of driver ? when opened (to check if magnet is BIG or not)...

Thank you!

Comment on Which online storage service? SkyDrive is best value but lacks cool factor by mksk

The biggest problem with Skydrive is that its doing exactly the opposite of its intent and purpose.

Cloud service should, in essence, create an ecosystem where everything can easily be shared throughout multiple devices.

What's the point in having a service that's limited to Windows & iOS platform? Not only do they not support Android devices, but they also don't support Windows XP. Even Dropbox and Google support the XP platform, and it isn't even their OS!

The fact that they won't support their own platform (even though it's within their capability) is a real turn off. Something smells... like an ulterior motive behind all this garbage nonsense.

Anyhow, I don't care if Skydrive provides 25gb. Heck, I wouldn't use it if they provided 1tb.

Dropbox's success can be credited to its support of a wide array of devices, combined with the "cool" mentioned by the author of this article.

Comment on Review: my bargain iPad Bluetooth keyboard from a Chinese market by Tim

Hi Marlene

The short answer is that your keyboard is not working right. When a keyboard is connected the soft keyboard should not pop up. If I tap reply on an email, with the keyboard connected, the soft keyboard does not appear.

Mine is not quite the same as yours - I *do* have a right shift key.

My suggestion is to try disconnecting and re-pairing the keyboard. If it still does not work, return it.

I also suggest that you look up lists of keyboard shortcuts for the iPad - a quick Google will find some.

Thanks for your article (from last year?).

I ordered online and just received from China possibly the very same brand ipad keyboard you wrote about, because the very limited manual uses the same info you mentioned.

I have not been able to figure out (nor find online) how to respond to ipad emails using my new keyboard.

That is, when I select an email to reply to, the only way I’m able to get the received email into reply mode is to tap on that email, indicating Reply…but that brings up the ipad’s touch keyboard and then I cannot get the Chinese one to work.

My keyboard also doesn’t have the right shift key, but I can live with that.

I’d sure like to be able to reply to emails, etc.

Have you found a more thorough list of how to use the keys than my crummy manual shows (which is only how to pair the keyboard to the ipad…PERIOD.)?

For example, I don’t know how to print screen/F4…to get it to work. Using Control key or Fn or Alt plus those buttons?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Unfortunately I no longer have the 9.1s to compare directly.

The 9.1's may be slightly more refined, I am not sure. However a big factor is that the Behringers are fine without a sub - though you can still use one if you want the extra grunt. Purely on sound I doubt the 9.1s are worth the extra.

Then again, the 9.1s have the built-in DAC and remote volume control, and the looks are living-room friendly, all of which are also important.

Thanks for the review. I was very impressed with the 9.1s when I heard them a few years ago before they were improved to the T. How does the sound quality of the Behringers compare and which do you prefer?

Thanks for all the comments on the HP cartridges, at least it's a comfort to know how angry other people feel about the cost of printing with these. Think I will look at a laser printer next time, just hate to be ripped off like this.

Great tear down tutorial. The plastic snap locks are a bit of a nightmare but true to form it all comes apart with a bit of manipulation.
However, when re-assembled I turned it back on and everything starts to engage, the screen doesn't come on though and then after about 15 seconds a loud clicking sound starts. It appears to come from the scanner plate, the scanner comes out about an inch or two and then retracts. It looks like when it retracts all the way the motor tries to keep going and thats when the loud clicking starts. It didnt do this before taking it apart. Any suggestions??? Thanks, Jason

Hi Nick

This is usually a hidden partition and it should be possible with Ghost, yes. That said, it is costly in terms of space so I recommend zapping it. Instead, make a complete backup of your laptop when it is in a good state and keep that as your fallback.
